Joan McQuillanI am passionate about embroidery and transform ideas and images from sketchbooks into decorative work using a technique of layering fabrics, thread, paper, bead, lino print and dyes together with free machine embroidery and hand stitching, resulting in vibrant textured pieces of work.

Chris GriffithI live and work in Berkshire as a textile and mixed media artist and co-founded Diversity in 2007 with fellow textile artist Karen McCarthy.
My work always has some element of stitch in it, whether it be hand or machine, and there is always a French knot in there somewhere. I use several techniques, building up layers until I get the result I need. The materials and colours I use are led purely by my inspiration for a particular piece of work, and my inspiration comes from nature and what is around me. Chris's Gallery |
Lois bellewMy work is inspired by issues that touch me personally, particularly the environment, currently ocean plastic congestion, as well as journeys and places and my emotional response to them.

Madelaine hutchinThe inspiration for my art and quilts comes from my many travels and especially my time living in Africa and Asia. I enjoy using native fabrics particularly Thai silks, Indonesian batiks and African kangas.
My work encompasses art, religion and the environment as decorative tactile quilts. Madelaine's gallery |
Elaine izodMy current work is involved with the body, humour, movement and dance. My work relies heavily on people watching, keeping a sketchbook, and life drawing classes. I have developed a technique where I draw and paint on the cloth before finishing with a mixture of hand and machine sewing.

julie winterMy work is about the celebration of colour and form in landscape. Nature provides awe-inspiring scenes and offers the opportunity to stop and gaze, to become lost in the beauty of the land. Using a variety of media including paper, paint, fabric and thread which are layered and distressed, I then combine machine and hand stitching to build up the surface texture.

Terry donaldsonI am inspired by the coast and the sea; things rusting and decaying, lost or discarded and found again, put to new use.
My current work focuses on atmosphere, walking and collecting, with the muted colours of the sea and coast combined with hand and machine stitching to add text, images and texture. Terry's Gallery |
Marian SpencerThe inspiration for my pieces of work has been developed over the years mainly from my observational sketches of organic shapes, mostly from nature and the landscape.
To interpret these I use machine embroidery, hand stitch, paper and wrappings and as I like to bring as much movement as possible to my work I incorporate wire to make mostly 3D structures. Marian's gallery |
