about marian
The inspiration for my pieces of work has been developed over the years mainly from observation, sketches and photos from nature, beaches, landscape and organic shapes. I like to re-visit the same themes and scenes to get to the essence of the subject.
To interpret these I use mixed media - paper, paint inks and gesso, machine embroidery, hand stitch and wrappings - and to bring as much movement as possible to her work I incorporate wire to make mostly 3D structures.

EDGE
The source of Marian’s work is an interpretation, derived from observational sketches and photos, of her walks on a Cornish beach.
She focuses on the marks the tide makes on the sand, which is ever changing, and the variety of stones and detritus left behind
